LIGHTWEIGHT CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS

Lightweight Construction Materials is an ongoing collection of soft domestic items that allude to raw building construction materials and imagery. Each object has a high-resolution texture of a familiar construction material printed on it such as oriented strand board (OSB) or mudded drywall. They aim to soften our relationship to the hidden aspects of contemporary architecture and create a kind of intimacy between labor, material assemblies, and the people involved in the process. They are also meant to be funny, quirky, and delightful objects.

The pieces are conceptual reflections on materials we take for granted in construction. By softening these construction and manufactured materials, we're asking audiences to reflect on their ubiquity and the role they play in the built environment as images.
